Covenant one night

I was looking through some of my files and came upon another video. I recorded this last January with the group from church. We were missing a member or two that night, but the following are the highlights including an appearing and disappearing worshiper. Also the lighting set up on my camera made me look a little whiter than normal if that's possible. I guess that makes me look like a holy ghost (lower case intended.)

Closer Walk with Thee

Mike, Dan and I did our semi-annual family worship thingy at the Leroy Outreach. I mentioned to both these guys in our follow up email that the song Closer Walk with Thee reminded me of the Mills brothers tape our father used to have in his old Crown Vic. Both Mike and Dan do a lead vocal bit on the song and it got a little discombobulated at times but, as I listened to it the next day I really liked it. I was thinking a lot about dad that day, I had a video of the demolition company tearing down the Aud in Buffalo that I showed my two brothers. That was really up dad's alley. We played a lot of tunes this past Saturday, and I have several minutes of video, but this clip as I say really tickled me.

Grand Canyon

Last month kendra and I visited parts west. It was a five day tour of California by car, Arizona by bus, and Las Vegas by foot. I took some of the footage of the trip and made a six minute movie of the remnants of the Great Flood of Noah's time. Okay that was a creationist plug. But no one can doubt that Grand Canyon is one of the wonders of God's planet earth. Sniping added by myself and my wife.

Goodbye Old Pal

I had to say goodbye to Blitz Saturday. I took him to the local vetenarian office and signed him over to the grim reaper. Not one to be overly sensitive to the PETA crowd, I must say that putting him down was as sad an event as I have faced in some time. He had become difficult to keep healthy, and his hind quarter was arthritic. His soon end was inevitable, still I am grieved because I feel I should have done better by him. His ride to the vets was like any other time. Blitz who was never a car dog, did not look forward to rides like some dogs do. Nonetheless through the years he got used to the idea. There were times in the past when he shook like crazy when we got near the place. Saturday morning he was as calm as could be. He trusted me.

I took him for a final walkabout Saturday morning, and like other walks recently he came up dragging his backside after running. Still if I could speak to him I know he would have wanted to go on. He was that kind of dog. That is what makes me feel so bad about it. Even in his last days with me he knew when we were going to go out in the park. He would walk to the back gate and stand there looking at me wagging his tail. We were walking buds, he knew it, and I'll never forget his companionship.

True to the spiritual nature of this rarely entered blog, I will finish with this. I made Blitz the same promise I made my other dog Artie at the end. As I kind of gave him a goodbye hug I told him that if the LORD GOD allows it in eternity, I'll have him recreated. If dogs do go to heaven, I want him to be there.

Old Blitz is getting up there, so I thought it may be a good idea to digitize him before he goes to doggie heaven. (Theologians don't quote that!) I could have cloned him but what the heck, I'll save that for me. I shot reams or is it rams of movie footage last week. Cecile B. Demile I am not as I am sure my mentor Joel Malley the video professor will soon inform me. Taking an hour of files and trimming it down to twelve minutes is not a Walk in the park.

Leroy Outreach

I got together with my brothers a couple of Saturdays ago, and played some music. We did this once before several weeks ago, so this was sort of a follow up. I brought along a video camera, and really got lucky with how it turned out.

Well beauty is in the eyes and ears of the beholder. But technically, considering I just propped the cam on a tripod and walked away we got solid representation of our day in Leroy Outreach. We played for a some time before I set the camera thankfully, so we chipped off some of our flux before the recording.

I would like to take back a couple of harmonic clams in my vocals if I could. I went where no man should go before on a couple of efforts. I probably should have left Mike solo a little more as well. He has a fine voice. He sounds like James Taylor on "We see the Lord." Brother Dan graced us with a rendition of Amazing Grace at the end of the recording, still can hammer out a tune (I take exception to the Grizzly Adams growth on his face though. He still has color in his beard, I'm jealous.) I broke up the hour of the recording into 11 files. I am only posting 7 though, due to upload time constraints. . Anyone who has the patience with us to listen to what is posted is surely sainted anyway. Remember though that they were done without stopping, and no modern day voice embellishment technology, or mikes.

This is the final song captured. Just as well because our voices were shot. Anyway Dan took over with an impromtu version of Amazing grace. Good to hear his voice on this. Mike came up with another Irish number.... too late to explore it, but it seemed promising. Candy showed up off camera to tell us we were late for supper. Yikes! She was super gracious, talk about amazing grace. Roast beef was great, thanks again.
